Old School vs. New School

Traditional and New media

Traditional media is through newspapers, books, magazines, and radio, etc. New media is the internet and everything that's in it.

Both have their own pros and cons, but which one is better?

Traditional media is more censored or clean because it is regulated by agencies like MTRCB in the Philippines, but in other countries there is less censorship. This can also mean that traditional media can be easily manipulated or controlled. People with money or influence can control what they what newspapers to publish and not to publish. They can control what to air in television. People also have to pay for their voice to be heard and their thoughts to be seen. Traditional distributes information slowly unlike new media.

New media is more free. People can post whatever they want and they can remain anonymous. You don't need to pay anything in order to publish an article or to post a video. It can all be done with a few clicks. The problem with new media is "hacking". Hacking is to access computer networks, legally or otherwise. Hackers can access people's accounts or websites and steal information, pictures, secrets. They can change what you post or post under your name. With new media it's easier and faster to give information and communicate.

I think, in my opinion, that new media is better than traditional. New media is faster than traditional because i think that communicating and giving information faster is important. It can be used by anyone, it's easy to access.

Well, not really always but it fits the situation.

Communication Breakdown

WHAT IS COMMUNICATION?

Communication (from Latin: "communis" means to share) is an activity of conveying information through the exchange of thoughts, messages or information, as by speech, visuals, signals, writings, and behavior. It is the meaningful exchange of information between two or a group of person.

IMPORTANCE

We communicate every day. A simple nod to acknowledge a person is an example of communication. We need communication. “Why?” you might ask.

Imagine a world without communication. A world where we do not speak. A world where we live with each other but do not even look each other in the eyes.

We would be living primitively. Communication is important in progress. Without communication we will not be able to share our ideas. How can Socrates share his philosophical ideas when he can't communicate? How can the Wright Brothers invent the airplane when they do not communicate with each other?

It is said that no man is an island. Without communication we would all be living alone.

"Loneliness is never more cruel than when it is felt in close propinquity with someone who has ceased to communicate" -Germaine Greer
