Facebook has over 500 million active users and with these numbers, Facebook would be the 3rd largest population if it were a country next to India and China. Over 35 million people update their status every day. Twitter reported that it’s now seeing over 200 million active users send 400 million tweets per day. YouTube has 1 billion unique monthly visitors and 6 billion hours of videos are watched every month.

Social media has grown enormously over the years and we have to be responsible when using them. It is our right to use these social media but it is also our responsibility to use it properly for us not to hurt other people or even ourselves. The Internet is a dangerous place for anyone. There are people waiting to take advantage of people; scammers, hackers, etc.

We shouldn't post nude or half-naked pictures of ourselves or of others. We should't use bad language for it can be seen by anyone. Do not spread wrong information about somebody or something. Do not "cyber-bully". There is now a Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 in the Philippines. We should protect our accounts with the proper privacy settings so that people we don't know wont be able to see our account. Don't meet up with strangers. It's okay to chat with someone but we shouldn't reveal our personal information like where you live or meet up with them. Do not plagiarize. Do not copy other peoples work and if you do, credit the author of the work. Cite the source of everything you copy on the internet. If you have children, supervise them, monitor their use of the Internet. Be a responsible Netizen. Think before you click
