10th Annual EdukCircle Convention

            I paid money, woke up at 3:00 in the morning and didn't eat breakfast to attend a convention, the 10th EdukCircle Convention, and it was worth it.The International Center for Communication Studies (ICCS) aims to provide a venue for the advancement and essential evaluation of communication practices in different academic fields through various seminars, conventions, workshops and trainings. In this convention different journalists come together under one roof to teach young aspiring journalists the basics to be a good journalist. From listening to the great speakers here are some of the things I learned:


      1. Being an investigative journalist is not about fame and fortune, it's about sending a message. This line of work doesn't always give a promising paycheck but journalists do it for the people. "Loyalty is to the citizens, obligation is to the truth" according to Ms. Marites Vitug

      2. If you want to be a journalist, start from the beginning. Mr. Ed Lingao said that you should know the ropes from different jobs as a journalist and not only the job of your position.

      3. There are no stupid stories, only stupid storytellers. All stories are interesting. It is the way of telling it that catches the audience's attention.

       The convention also had an awarding
- Best Health Show Hosts (Ms Bernadeth Sembrano and Ms Cheryl Cosim)
- Most Outstanding Male Journalist of the Year (Mr Arnold Clavio)
- Most Outstanding Female Journalist of the Year (Jessica Soho)

- Most Outstanding TV Personality in Public Service (Ms Mel Tiangco)
- Most Outstanding TV Personality in Comedy( Mr Jose Manalo)
- Best Talk Show Host (Ms Ryzza Mae Dizon and Ms Amy Perez)
- Most Outstanding Drama Actress (Ms Kim Chiu)   
           
        The students shouted their lungs out when they saw their idols. Unfortunately some of them weren't able to attend, but we all know that they are busy persons. The night ended and I will assume that everyone was satisfied and got their money's worth from the convention.
